At Bravura Group, we work with families across all stages of life—and one of the most overlooked transitions is when a child turns 18 and heads off to college.
Once your child becomes a legal adult, you no longer have automatic authority to access their medical records or step in during a financial emergency. That’s why we strongly recommend that every college-bound student execute two essential legal documents:
🔹 Health Care Directive – so a parent or trusted adult can make medical decisions if the student becomes incapacitated.
🔹 Power of Attorney – to allow someone to handle financial, legal, or housing matters if your child is unable to do so.
These are simple documents that can make all the difference in an emergency—and they’re a critical part of preparing for adulthood.
If your family is in this season of life, our team at Bravura Group is here to help you put the right protections in place.
