At Bravura Group, we know that planning for the future is about more than establishing essential legal documents, like Health Care Directives, Powers of Attorney, Wills, and Trusts. It is about people—their hopes, values, and the comfort of knowing that loved ones will be supported no matter what lies ahead.

That’s why we are proud to share that our Attorney, Brenna Galvin, brings a unique perspective to her elder law practice through her training as an end-of-life doula.

What Is an End-of-Life Doula?

An end-of-life doula is a non-medical professional who provides emotional, spiritual, and practical support to individuals and families as they navigate the final stages of life. Much like a birth doula offers help to expectant mothers in establishing a birth plan as well as guidance and presence throughout the labor process and the beginning of a child’s life, an end-of-life doula provides compassionate support during one of life’s most vulnerable transitions: death.  They do this by guiding individuals through offering three phases of support: 1) planning for the death, 2) holding vigil, and 3) helping loved ones process the loss during early stages of their grief.

How This Benefits Our Clients

Brenna’s doula training enhances her work as an elder law attorney in meaningful ways:

  • Deep Listening. She takes time to understand each client’s story, values, and goals before creating legal plans.

  • Compassionate Guidance. Sensitive conversations around illness, aging, or death are approached with empathy, making clients feel supported throughout the process.

  • Holistic Planning. Brenna’s approach ensures that clients receive more than just legal documents—they receive peace of mind and reassurance that their wishes are fulfilled and their loved ones will be cared for.

  • Robust Advanced Care Planning. Health Care Directives are a critical part of every estate plan, yet many individuals do not take time to reflect on their contents or clearly communicate their wishes. Brenna helps clients articulate their values and ensure their voices are heard.

  • Coalition Building. Planning documents are only as effective as the people entrusted to carry them out. Brenna works with clients to identify and prepare those individuals while surrounding them with a team of trusted professionals—the client’s personal board of directors—to provide ongoing support.

Why It Matters

Legal planning and end-of-life planning are deeply interconnected. Brenna’s experience as a doula allows her to combine professional expertise with compassionate presence, helping clients feel understood, prepared, and supported. Whether drafting wills and trusts or creating long-term care plans, her approach ensures that both the legal and human aspects of planning are honored.

Moving Forward Together
